New Escalation: Trump Threatens to Wipe Out Iran as Tehran Announces a Decisive Operation

Al-Taj News – The United States launched new strikes on targets in southern and southeastern Iran on Tuesday, while U.S. President Donald Trump threatened to carry out larger strikes if Tehran retaliates, as Iranian media announced the start of what it described as a “decisive operation” against U.S. targets and interests in the region.

Trump said the U.S. strikes came in response to what he described as a failed Iranian attempt to lay naval mines in the Strait of Hormuz and the launch of eight missiles that he said targeted a U.S. military base, stressing that the U.S. attack was “powerful and wide-ranging.”

The U.S. president warned Tehran against retaliating, saying that any Iranian attack would be met with an “even bigger and much more severe” U.S. response, while U.S. media quoted him as saying that Iran could be “completely wiped out” if the escalation is repeated, in his words.

In remarks to Fox News, Trump said that an agreement with the Iranians “isn’t worth the paper it was written on,” adding that the United States had given Tehran “many chances.”

He added that Iran had attempted to rebuild its radar systems, and that the United States waited until the rebuilding process was nearing completion before targeting them.
